“Survivor: Ghost Island” Episode 3: Changin’ Up The Buffs Blame Jeff Probst for this.

So, uh. It’s episode 3, and Survivor is already switching up tribes. That Jeff Probst knows how to confuse people.

Unfortunately, Dom and Chris are on the same tribe yet again. Otherwise, the two tribes — which keep the same names — are mostly evenly split. So while some have an advantage, there’s still going to have to be a lot of scrambling. Morgan is pretty happy, as purple is her favorite color, her tribe has a living room, and she’s technically up in numbers. Good for her!

“The majority is key and crucial in this game,” Sebastian said. He thinks he’s in the perfect situation based on numbers and compared his glee to banana-flavor Laffy Taffy.

Naviti has done nothing but complain about the poorer shape of the Malolo camp, and Brendan doesn’t know why people are complaining. This is, after all, Survivor. And things could be way worse.

Donathan thinks that Naviti has it going on. They have firepits and an awesome view, and he couldn’t be happier. “We have the five four advantage, but it’s way more complicated than that,” Chris says. He’s still set on eliminating Dom, which would be kind of dumb at this point. Chris goes ahead and tells everyone that Dom has an idol and that they need to get rid of him.

“I was like, wow. Cool. Welcome to Naviti,” Libby said after seeing what Chris was all about. Hey, here’s an idea you guys — why don’t you get rid of Chris?

Over at Malolo, the girls are enjoying the beach and the sunset. But the old Naviti tribe just wishes they were back at their old camp. Jenna thinks she’s on the bottom and feels like it’s a good chance now to make connections and switch up the numbers. So, maybe it’s about time for the Malolo ladies (And Brendan) to look for an idol.

Michael ends up finding it and says it’s the dream come true. It belonged to James back in 2007. He actually had two of them, but still got voted out after not playing them based on a false sense of security within his alliance. Michael says that season was one of the first he watched, back when he was eight. Yes, eight. I feel like that season only happened a handful of years ago, which is unbelievable.

Morgan and Libby form a connection to figure out what to do with this whole Chris/Dom thing. “It’s feeling like a real alliance,” Libby says after chatting over how much she trusts Morgan. Let’s hope that friendship lasts*.

The Immunity Challenge

Time for immunity! And reward! This challenge includes a half-wall race into a sandpit. Contestants will have to climb to retrieve a rope that’ll bring them up a tower to — you guessed it — a puzzle.

Chris and Sebastian are the first up, and make it through. As does Donathan, who is the only one I actively care about right now. Desiree has a few troubles and trails behind, but finally masters the half-wall.

The ladder is underground, and each tribe needs to give it their all to dig it out. Malolo takes quite some time to figure out how to actually use the ladder, and lose their lead. But eventually, Sebastian from Malolo manages to catch the team up while using the rope, and things even out once again.  Naviti gets to the puzzle first, but Malolo isn’t too far behind. As per Probst, the puzzle is “complicated.” At one point, Wendell tells Probst he doesn’t appreciate the negative commentary, and Probst responds with “just callin’ what I see.” Guys, I love when people give Jeff Probst ‘tude.

The winner? Malolo. They win a tarp and a chance to avoid tribal council. They can’t decide who to bring to Ghost Island, and decide on Naviti to draw rocks instead. And part of that is because they’re still so divided with their new tribe. The contestant who draws a white rock out of the black rocks gets to go to Ghost Island. And, it’s Chris. Which is kind of a bummer, since I wanted him out — and so does Dom.

Touring Ghost Island

At Ghost Island, Chris really hopes that Dom still ends up going. He doesn’t get to play a game, which is a bummer for him, since he was really hoping to win an idol. Since that doesn’t happen, he crumbles over how much he misses his family.

Being alone isn’t a good thing for him. “My mom was diagnosed with MS before I was even born,” he says, noting that she’s the ultimate survivor after being diagnosed in her late 20’s. Ah, come on CBS. Don’t make me feel bad for Chris. Don’t even show me scenes of him crying alone.

Angela is all about loyalty with her vote. She doesn’t want to vote for him and conspires with Wendell to get Libby out. Wendell doesn’t know if he can even trust Angela, as she’s Chris’s “right-hand man.” But is she? Since she seems to just be like, the one person Chris was shown talking to.

For the record, I keep referring to Dom as Dom. Technically, he’s Domenick, which is a spelling I’ve never encountered before. But I’m just going by the conversation here. Dom reminds everyone that his idol is fake, and even shows his tribemates that it’s worthless. “This is the nonsense he’s been talking about since day one,” he says with a laugh. But since this is Ghost Island, other tribemates are wondering if he showed them a fake on purpose. James even goes so far to compare him to Russell Hantz, which is a huge accusation.

Morgan’s name also gets thrown out, which Libby is super unhappy about. It could be anyone, really.

Tribal Council

Probst questions Morgan first, who admits that both tribes are staying solid with their groups. And since it’s currently 4-4 with Chris away, it’s been very tough. “All you could hope for is for someone to make a crack,” Wendell admits. Dom was surprised,  since he doesn’t want his own fate to be determined by a rock.

Angela admits she’s been pressured by Chris, and Morgan wants to remind her that Chris isn’t here tonight. James seems confused by all of this, along with Dom saying he’s totally cool with hearing people out. “From my perspective, it was a strong Naviti four,” he notes. Morgan also tells Libby she’s beautiful at the tribal council, which — awwww.

But now it’s time to vote. Laurel is up first, and she openly votes for Libby. Morgan throws Angela’s name down. Every other vote is a secret, meaning it’s between the two. BTW: Once the votes are read, the decision is final.

Morgan’s name gets thrown out there as well. It’s three votes Angela and Morgan, and one vote Libby. One vote left. And that person is Morgan. What?

Hashtag blindside. Even I didn’t expect this one. Libby seems bummed, as am I. “Don’t trust the cute blondes,” Morgan announces. In the end credits, she reveals she’s giving her legacy advantage to Dom. But it might be cursed, if we’re being honest.

*I’m pretty sure it won’t.
