Well, the tribes have changed up once again on Survivor. Along with a mixup, a third tribe is introduced, called Yanuya. That means that everyone’s starting from scratch. Kind of. Yanuya isn’t going to mean anything — it’s always going to be Malolo versus Naviti.
Sebastian, who is very happy about a perfect conch shell he found, is glad to finally get some time with Wendell. Wendell has been trying to manage the egos of Domenick and Chris, so he’s kind of happy that there’s a switch up. He’s still with Chris, but Dom is no longer with the bunch.
Chris thinks he’s had a target on his back since day one, which is probably correct. Even so, he’s finally safe in admitting that he’s a male model. He thinks it’d be worse if people know since people often think models are dumb. Much like Zoolander, Chris then says that having that knowledge out there wouldn’t be “beneficiarary” to him. LOL.
So, Who’s Working With Who?
Laurel thinks it’s fine to just let Chris dig his own grave, and if the tribe loses, he’s set to be in some trouble.
Back on the other side, the Chris and Dom battle is the top gossip, and James talks about how they were gunning to get Angela out. Since there are obvious cracks with Naviti, James and Michael think they can possibly work with her.
Speaking of, James still isn’t totally sure he can trust Michael. “He did write my name down at the second tribal council,” James admits. But as the two Malolo, they need to work together.
Bradley is happy to be welcomed back to the Naviti camp. In his mind, it seems like they won an award. “Old Naviti, in theory, has the advantage…but there’s a lot of unknown coming to this beach,” he says.
Welcome Back To Naviti
Chelsea has tears coming back to Naviti since she hadn’t been eating at the Malolo camp. They suffered four losses, and it was just tough to deal with. Finally, she can enjoy coffee again!
Dom’s just happy to be separated from Chris. Since there’s three Naviti, and one is Donathan, he’s starting to feel a little safer. But still, who knows — after all, this is Survivor. (I will say, if Dom gets out before Chris, I’m going to be pissed.)
But, Dom is quick to make new enemies. He’s really not sure about Libby and thinks she’s super dangerous. He chats about it with Bradley, who’s happy to have Dom back. Bradley, by the way, says he thinks he’s playing an A+ game — which makes me feel like things are going to come crashing down for him. Just a hunch.
The Immunity Challenge
At the immunity challenge, Libby hands Jeff back the idol. The idol is no more, as now two tribes will be fighting to win. It’s a “blind” challenge, where one person from each tribe has to lead blindfolded team members around obstacles. Communication is the name of the game.
Malolo is actually in the lead which is something Jeff Probst hasn’t said in awhile. Lead by Desiree, they’re doing a fine job. Chelsea on Naviti ends up walking straight into a post, likely due to her newfound level of jitters.
I have to say, I feel for the leaders — especially Desiree and Dom — for trying to guide their blindfolded team to put a puzzle together. People have enough trouble doing puzzles with their full eyesight. Dom at one point has to tell the tribe that the puzzle is a circle, only illustrating how tough this is.
Eventually, Malolo builds some momentum after briefly falling aside, but it’s Yanuya — lead by Wendell — who make it through first. And after that Naviti completes theirs, proving that Malolo is just meant to lose every time. Malolo is cursed.
Michael is pissed since they’re on Ghost Island and they’re supposed to break curses, and not create new ones. With soundbites like that, he can’t be voted out — right?
Desiree feels awful about the challenge and blames herself for the team loss. Still, she’s gunning for James to go home, even though she really thinks it should be her.
James moved back to the United States at the age of 16 by himself and had to learn how to connect with other humans in that time. He talks to Angela, who thinks she’ll be on the bottom — especially based on last time. She sees herself as being alone in life, especially after her divorce, and thinks it’s hard. She thinks James is being genuine. But even though she wants to be loyal to Naviti, she also has to look after herself.
Kellyn tried hard to recruit Angela on her side with Desiree, but she’s afraid that Angela will side with James and end up gunning for one of them. “I feel more uncomfortable going in this tribal than I’ve felt this whole game,” Kellyn says. She thinks Angela is straight up dangerous.
Tribal Council
At Tribal Council, Jeff Probst straight up says that Malolo may be the worst tribe in challenges ever. Desiree admits that she takes full responsibility, and feels terrible for her direction. She said that what makes a winner is how you get back up when you fall, which is pretty optimistic.
“If you don’t win, you won’t make the merge,” Probst states. Way to kick them when they’re down, buddy. He also talks about tribal lines, and who may have secret alliances. Since this is already the second tribal switch-up, it’s hard to remember who was on which tribe to begin with. Let’s just get to the vote already.
James votes for Desiree, saying he’s sorry and wishes he could give her the second chance he got. Probst collects the votes. The first vote is for James. Then, Desiree. Then, James. Then…James. Darn it. Honestly, he was my pick for final three. But sadly, the tribe has spoken. “Great blindside guys,” he says, before honestly wishing them the best of luck. Don’t leave us, James!
