“Survivor: Ghost Island” Episode 7: Burning The Flag Malolo is at a point where they'll literally try anything to get ahead.

Things are getting rough for Survivor‘s survivors — namely, Michael. His name is on the chopping block based on numbers, so he’s not even afraid if everyone sees him dig for an idol. And eventually, he finds one. And one of the best ones — Ozzy’s stick, which was a dupe. “When I looked over around that tree stump, I found this guy,” Michael says, before telling Ozzy’s story. The idol is real now, meaning that he’s got a pretty sick advantage.

The Reward Challenge

The tribes meet up, and Naviti and whatever that third one’s called realize James was voted out of Malolo. Still bummed about that, by the way. The tribes will be playing for steak, chicken kabobs, and spices to make it all taste even better. Second place just gets standard chicken kabobs. Third place gets zip.

The reward challenge is all about spelling and stacking. During the challenge, Michael accidentally gets called James, proving his tribemates don’t really give a crap about him personally. The word they need to spell is “Reward,” with a Ghost Island logo on top. Yanuya was in the lead before everything knocked over. Malolo also has to start over again. This challenge is tough, man.

Wendell over on Yanuya places the R for Reward, with Naviti in second place. Donathan and Bradley have a little bit of tension at first, but Donathan manages to pull it through for Naviti. Since Malolo is the worst tribe, they come in third.

Naviti is in charge of who goes to Ghost Island. They decide to send Kellyn since Kellyn’s been there before and Ghost Island is “still a mystery.”

The good news is that Kellyn gets a game, and is told to “follow the fire.” But, she has to risk her vote to play. Last time, she decided not to risk the vote. But this time, as she’s getting close to the merge, it might be good to take a shot. She chooses one of three logs and inside is an advantage. It’s the authentic “steal a vote.” This one was tied to Michaela. The hidden advantage was right by her feet, but she didn’t see it — Sarah did, and she ended up voting out Michaela.

Over at Naviti, they get ready to enjoy their steaks and Bradley talks about how he has no patience at all. “For me, the hardest test out here is not to be a total dick,” he says. He noted how his dickishness has affected him in real life. Chelsea, Dom, and Donathan gossip about it. They’re all on the same page about Bradley, and Donathan hopes he’s the target in case they lose. But, they’re probably not going to lose. Domenick agrees that Bradley stinks, but also said he wants to stick with Naviti.

Chris, now in Yanuya, says he loves eating (good for you, buddy) while the tribe says happy birthday to Nicole, Wendell’s girlfriend who isn’t present/a person anyone knows. Weird moment. Wendell says it’s really tough to not be with her on her big day, and Nicole is probably like, “You’re on Survivor, I totally get it, dude.” Wendell uses the opportunity to try and find an idol. This editing makes me feel like Wendell might be getting voted out soon.

Remembering A Bonehead

He manages to find a clue to an idol around a strange looking tree, which is something. With time, he finds the idol — Erik’s idol. The necklace Erik gave to someone else, making him the stupidest Survivor ever. Even Wendell thinks Erik was, in his words, “a bonehead.” “I will never do what he did,” Wendell says. Man, just imagine making one decision on a show like, a billion years ago, and having strangers still call you stupid.

Over at Malolo, the tribes are eating crab hairs or something. “My stomach feels like it’s touching my back,” Desiree says. Even if there’s a switch or swap, the tribe loses. Desiree thinks they should burn the part of their flag that says “Malolo” in order to get rid of the Malolo curse. And, well, they do.

Soon after, the cast gathers for their next challenge. Kellyn is brought back from Ghost Island. Probst hears about the flag burning and seems a bit shocked. Let’s hope Malolo actually win this one.

The Immunity Challenge

In this challenge, they’ll have to collect rings that will end up on their target. When they start, Bradley’s strategy is getting the rings farthest away first. It’s a good strategy. Let’s see if it pays off.

When it’s time to throw the rings, Malolo is — per Probst — “dead last.” But it’s Naviti who doesn’t make it at the end, meaning that Malolo ended up breaking their curse. Who knows? Maybe flag burning will be a new “thing.” “The curse is reversed!” Probst says. “Enjoy the night off.”

So, will it be Bradley voted out? Libby, who I totally forgot about and had to look at old recaps to define (she was important in episode 3) definitely thinks so.

Domenick apologies if he let anyone down — supposedly the swim caused him trouble. But Bradley’s the real pain the ass. But the plan according to others is Libby, who is “incredibly attractive” so you want to “buy what she’s selling,” per Bradley. Gross. From what I can tell right now, Donathan is safe — and that’s all I care about. Domenick doesn’t trust Libby but thinks that Bradley’s temper is a huge problem.

Tribal Council

Naviti heads on over to Tribal Council, and Probst asks Dom what the whole “Malolo” and “Naviti” original lines are like. Donathan is concerned that he and Libby don’t have the numbers to keep going. Bradley says you’d never know there was a divide since everyone gets along great. Donathan disagrees, especially since they blindsided Morgan, which Domenick may still be bummed about. (Again, episode 3.)

Bradley talks about how he provides a dialogue, and how he doesn’t want to start conflicts, and there’s an awkward pause of silence. Probst starts asking the next question, yet Bradley continues on, and things are very briefly uncomfortable.

But now it’s time to vote.

No idols are played, and once the votes are read, the decision is final. The first vote is for Libby. Then Bradley. When Bradley gets his second vote, he looks a little confused. With the third, he’s out. “Good job guys,” he says, wishing them luck in the rest of the game. The tribe has spoken. “Adventure of a lifetime,” he mutters on the way out, along with a “Wow,” a “Damn,” and a “That’s crazy.” I guess the lesson here is, don’t be a dick.
