“Teen Mom OG” S7E15: Best Dad Ever Let's hear it for the dads. Well, most of them.

Maci just came home from Nicaragua from being “naked and afraid,” and it looks like she’s still in one piece. It’s obvious she missed her family. As a weird segue, she talks about her clothing line next. They hired a girl named Sarah, and Taylor wants to take Bentley over to meet with her. After all, TTM may belong to Bentley one day.

I didn’t miss Mack and Ryan after they were omitted from last week’s episode, I can say that. The two talk about having a kid and Ryan thinks that “now is as good of a time as ever.” I don’t think that’s a good idea since I’m pretty sure he’s still on drugs. Ryan asks her if she wants to “go snug,” and this is the most scripted/loving I’ve seen him in some time. Mack talks about her last pregnancy when she was 17. She had to get married to Zach who knocked her up. Ryan talks about how he’s glad that he and Maci never got married, and it was hard to say no since his parents wanted it so bad.

“Do you think she’s let go of the past?” Mack asks. Ryan says no. Yeah. Maci, who’s happily married with three gorgeous kids and a business can’t let go of the past. Come the fuck on, Ryan.

Checking in with Taylor, he’s trying to get some business done while Nova tells him she wants to take a bath. “I’m so tired I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore,” Tyler says in front of the tub. He really does look exhausted.  Kiki stops by, and Taylor tells her that Nova got really sick the other night. It’s the first time she’s been like this, and obviously the first time Taylor’s been alone when it happened. Tyler admits it’s all really hard to juggle. Cate, who’ll be seeing the two of them, is working on herself. “You’ve got a lot going on,” Kiki reiterates.

Visiting Bubby

For Leah’s winter break, Amber decides to take her to Florida. Oh, and Andrew too. Listen, I really want to hate Andrew, and I know there’s some dirt on him, but I still like him so far. Please don’t prove me wrong, dude.

Gary and Kristina talk about how it’s nice for Amber and Leah to bond, even though he really doesn’t know much about Andrew. Hopefully knowing a camera crew is with them helps.

Amber is excited about Bubby (real name Shawn, by the way) meeting Andrew. She explains how Bubby took care of her throughout childhood. Bubby hated Matt, and Matt was jealous of Bubby, so this meetup is kind of crucial. Andrew gives a shady look while wearing a bright teal sweatshirt — which is not a good sign, as the Teen Mom editors know what’s actually going on behind the scenes.

Jade’s Excellent Adventure

Back at the McKinney household, Jade and Maverick are enjoying some Honey Nut Cheerios. Supposedly Jade snuck out of her crib and went into her parent’s bed, which is kind of adorable. I’m pretty sure that Maci said Jade once walked in on her and Taylor having sex while trying to sneak in their bed, so I’m kind of wondering if that’s when it happened. Hey, she did just get back from being away.

Maci takes Jade on a special outing to test out different toddler beds. It’s super adorable watching her try to crawl up all of them. Like me, Jade chooses beds mostly due to the color of the comforter. The blue bed seems to be best.

Bubby’s doorbell plays “My Country Tis Of Thee,” which is important to remember. It was probably installed by Senor Ding Dong back in the early ’90s when musical doorbells were a thing. Amber beelines right to the couch after a random nerd dart fight.

Bubby is quick to talk to Andrew about the changes between California and Indiana. “You get a real sense of community and the seasons out here,” Andrew says. Seasons? He’s been there for like, three weeks, right? He still gets hired for cinematography jobs, but also wants to be a screenwriter. I’ll tell Andrew what my dad told me — if you aim to be a screenwriter, you’ll just end up being a waitress.

Andrew swears that he’s never seen Teen Mom before. But Matt said he didn’t either, and obviously, he was a huge liar. Amber reiterates that she doesn’t need a man, and was single for years before Matt. But that’s because she was in jail for a large chunk of that time.

I have to admit it, Bubby’s Twitter account is a huge mess and I don’t necessarily agree with his beliefs, but he’s getting right to the point here with Andrew. And that’s what Amber needs — someone she loves and trusts pointing her in the right direction. If it wasn’t for Bubby,  she’d either be married to Matt or in the midst of a messy divorce from Matt right now.

Visiting Catelynn

MTV

Tyler and Nova are driving to the airport in order to meet up with Cate. Nova seems extra excited. She gets one glimpse, sees Cate, runs into her arms, and tells her she wants to see the horsies. Kind of funny. Kids, right? Cate also got a present for Nova — a  stuffed horse!  Obviously, Cate’s therapy is just at a horse ranch. Because anxiety horses.

Cate talks to Tyler one-on-one, and they talk shop. Tyler tells her they’ve got 61 orders in 2 days. Cate admits that her issues come from her mom and dad. Mostly her dad than her mom, which is sad, as April was truly brutal towards her throughout her childhood. Was her dad worse?

Maci’s back with the kids. Can I say it’s kind of refreshing to see Maci and the kids solo once again? She’s fabulous with them, of course.

Pocket Frenzy

Tyler and Bentley meet up with Sarah in Jacksonville. “She’ll put you to work,” Tyler tells Bentley, saying she’d also fire him the same day if she’s not impressed. Sarah shows her all the new pocket colors. I wish I was kidding. I know TTM is all about pockets, but I never thought a keychain of pockets would ever be featured on this show.

In the parts of her segment nobody cares about, Mackenzie talks about going to school with a friend at lunch. Nursing school.  She says Ryan will be the best dad, even though he’s proven for like, 9 years that he’s not.

Back to Amber’s Florida adventures. Leah and the gang are out to dinner. Straightforward Bubby asks Andrew if he’ll pop the question, and Andrew says that at this rate, a proposal may happen in June. Kind of interesting how they had that Ryan and Mack footage about getting married after knocking someone up, right?

Bubby even asks Amber about a prenup, which is actually very smart. But it makes everyone uncomfortable. It’s not exactly dinner conversation, I guess. Even for Teen Mom.

Good Dads

See how segments collide? Maci talks about how Taylor is such a good dad that he puts her mom skills to shame. And Taylor actually is a good dad, since he pays attention to his kids. Even Bentley, who is his step-kid. You wouldn’t know the difference.

It seems like April is taking therapy lessons with Catelynn, and while Tyler hears how it’s been, Nova eats raw onion slices. This kid, man. Tyler still refers to April as “mom,” which is endearing. Have I mentioned how this is the first season I’ve warmed up to Tyler? He’s just a good dude who’s had a lot to handle in his life.

In comparison, Ryan. He’s shown feeding his adorable pup. Then he sits down to a spaghetti dinner and talks to Mack about school. She’d be set to graduate in 2021. A funny part about this scene is that in the back of Mackenzie is a school photo of Bentley. In it, you can see he’s wearing a t-shirt with a bright blue pocket. Even scenes that Maci and Taylor aren’t in have TTM represented!

Bubby’s Review

Chilling on the bed, Amber and Bubby talk shop. Bubby thinks it’s great that Andrew actually has a job, unlike Matt. He also likes that Matt has no kids. “We’re still learning about each other of course,” Amber admits. But she says they have a good sense of each other. And she says Andrew has “tamed her.” The good news is that she regrets those words the second after she says them. All in all, Andrew is Bubby-approved!

Back at Maci’s house, the boys (minus Maverick) reunite with the girls. Hugs are given, and Taylor says the trip was “incredible.” “I’m excited for the future,” Taylor says.

The future also means assembling Jade’s new big girl bed. There are a lot of bits and pieces. Taylor asks Maci if assembling the big girl bed makes her want more,  and it’s a sore subject. Somewhat.  Maci, who is wearing a knee brace (maybe from Naked and Afraid?) “probably” does, meaning that we’ll probably hear a pregnancy announcement by the end of 2018.

Big Girl Bed

jade-bed

MTV

Best Dad Ever Taylor videotapes Jade’s big moment in the big girl bed. Bentley sweetly gives her a hug goodnight. Maci, please have 90000 more kids if you want. You’re going a great job.

Tyler has a quick call with Catelynn. They plan on grabbing lunch tomorrow. Once again, Nova is eating onions. Tyler talks about how all of Catelynn’s pregnancies have had trauma involved. Carly was adopted out, she had postpartum depression with Nova, and she, unfortunately, miscarried the third. Tyler admits that the miscarriage was probably the most traumatic thing she’s ever dealt with, which is huge. And heartbreaking. Since that girl has a grocery list of situations she’s been dealt that she hasn’t deserved.

Hey, can I mention that I totally forgot Farrah was out of the show until right now?
